Missoula County active COVID-19 case numbers surpass 3,200

MISSOULA, MONTANA — The number of current COVID-19 cases in Missoula County is steadily increasing.

The number of active cases has grown from 3,123 on Monday to 3,290, according to data from the Missoula City-County Health Department (MCCHD). A total of 129 new cases have been recorded.

The University of Montana is linked to 15 of the new cases and 220 of the ongoing cases, an increase from the 199 reported on Monday.

In Missoula County, a total of 22,011 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed, with 18,523 recoveries and 198 fatalities. There have been 48 COVID-19-related hospitalizations documented, with 27 county residents among them.

The COVID-19 test positive rate in the county continues at 29.87 percent, however the seven-day case average per 100,000 persons has dropped from 152 on Monday to 147. MCCHD has said that figures more than 25 are “very alarming.”

According to the Montana COVID-19 state tracking map, 75,132 Missoula County individuals have been completely vaccinated against COVID-19, accounting for 65 percent of the eligible population.
