Montana man leaves hospital after long recovery following plane crash

A Billings man who almost perished in a terrible aircraft accident had a pleasant homecoming Thursday night.

Riley Stephens walked out of a Salt Lake City hospital two days ago to applause and celebrations, more than four months after a car accident almost killed him.

Riley defied the odds, according to his brother Steele, who posted on Facebook.

Riley was badly wounded in an aircraft accident near Billings in late September.

Riley’s parents were killed in the crash, but he managed to climb out of the little aircraft.

He was burned on 70% of his body and has had many operations over the last four months, with doctors giving him a 50/50 chance of life at one time.
